Duccio Beats Gucci in Trademark Dispute

Duccio on the side of the Angels in a dispute over UK trademarks.

The DUCCIO trademark was filed   back in January 2001 but 2007 filings, which added new classes and a stylised word to the mark, brought out the  Gucci lawyers in force.

After a long and costly battle at the High Court the finding on behalf of the Registrar was  “…. that the mark DUCCIO will not be linked to GUCCI by the relevant consumer. The differences are such that it does not bring the GUCCI mark to mind.”

The cost of registering a trademark is nothing compared to the cost of defending the right to use it.
