‘Direland’ and the Euro

How badly can a nation’s brand be damaged by financial issues. The Irish Sun newspaper had had some fun with it’s headlines such as ‘Direland Bailout’ over the Irish euro crisis but inward investment continues at a pace.

When the world economy stabilises, speculators move on and the banks have adequate capital the American tourists will return in droves. Nations are more than brands and Ireland will reemerge hopefully without more Irish Troubles.

Now the interest rate on the bail out is agreed and reasonable we can move on to Spain and Portugal. The big question is will they be awarded the world cup in 2018?
